What is this blog about?

This blog doesn’t focus on one topic, but I often look at fair trade, particularly fair trade fashion, because I am committed to avoiding buying new clothes that have been manufacturer in sweat shops. Thus the blog name: Fairly Unfocused.

More generally this blog is about things that capture my imagination, questions that I am pondering, and books I am reading. Also cats, Lego, gardening, craft, books, reading, philosophy, libraries and the environment, amongst many other things. Hence the “unfocused” part of the blog name.

I began this blog when I was between jobs, as a place to reflect and connect, and as a way of providing some routine while I was unemployed.  I suppose it was, and is, a blog about the journey of life which is leading to a destination unknown. This blog is about anything and everything in my life, although a fairly regular theme is fair trade, particularly fair trade fashion. Since I began blogging I’ve been unemployed, self-employed, casually  part-time and full-time employed, and I’ve been an artist/illustrator, a librarian, and now a stay at home Mum.

Didn’t this blog used to be called “a long way from Lyddington”?

Yes. Blogs are hard to name, and I wanted to blog on anything and everything. As my first post explained “Lyddington is the little English village where I was born in a small but picturesque cottage some thirty-something years ago.” I now live in Melbourne, Australia, so I am now a long way from Lyddington.

After 99 posts, and about 4 years, I’ve finally come up with a name for this blog that I think I can work with long term.

For an artist/illustrator there aren’t many picture on this blog.

I love your prints. The cats on a bookshelf will make a perfect present to a good friend of mine :)!
Hope you’ll keep adding more things on etsy.

Thanks Voyagess, it is lovely to be sending one of my prints all the way to Dublin! I hope your friend enjoys it. Thanks for your support.
And yes, I hope to be adding some new pieces to Etsy soon.
